Students report
How many students your account has and how many are signing in: the four groups by last sign-in, new sign-ups per month and how to reach each group's list.
The students report shows the size of your base and how much of it is signing in. Use it to plan a campaign that brings back students who stopped signing in. It measures sign-in, not enrollment: it does not say who has access to which course.
What it is for
- Tell whether the base is cooling off. Compare Recently inactive with Active.
- Measure a launch. Look at the month's bar in New sign-ups.
- Find who paid and never came in. Open the Never accessed group.
The report is in Reports → Students, in the Engagement group.
The four groups
Total students is every student outside the trash. It is the same number as the Students → Students list and the plan quota.
Next to it, a donut chart splits the base into four groups by the date of the last sign-in:
| Group | Who is in it |
|---|---|
| Active (last 7 days) | Signed in within the last 7 days |
| Recently inactive (7–15 days) | The last sign-in was between 7 and 15 days ago |
| Inactive (over 15 days) | The last sign-in was more than 15 days ago |
| Never accessed | Never signed in: bought, was imported or created by hand and did not come in |
Each group shows the count and the percentage. The percentage is over the sum of the four groups. The center of the donut highlights the largest group.
See who is in a group
- Open Reports → Students.
- Click the group's row in the legend next to the donut (View the students in ...).
The student list opens with the Access filter already applied. The row is only a link for those with the permission to see students.
| Report group | Access filter in the list |
|---|---|
| Active (last 7 days) | Accessed in the last 7 days |
| Recently inactive (7–15 days) | No access for 7 to 15 days |
| Inactive (over 15 days) | No access for 15 days |
| Never accessed | Never accessed |
The list uses the same criterion as the group (see Students). The report updates once a day, and the list shows live data. That is why the numbers may differ slightly.
Students between 7 and 15 days still remember the course. Open that group's list and export it to your email tool.
For students who never came in, check the email in the list and use Resend welcome email (see Why the student cannot access).
New sign-ups
Sign-ups over the last 12 months shows how many students joined the base each month. The period total is in the corner.
The number counts every sign-up, whatever the origin: purchase, free sign-up, import and manual creation.
Good to know
Updated every 24 hours.
The four groups and the new sign-ups update once a day. Total students follows the list in real time. That is why the sum of the groups may differ from the total at the same moment.
Active here is sign-in, not enrollment.
A student with access in good standing who has not signed in for 20 days is in Inactive. To know what they can access, open the profile.
The list filter uses 30 days.
The student list's Status filter treats as Active anyone who signed in within the last 30 days. The report uses 7 days. The difference is on purpose: the report measures recent use, and the filter separates who is gone for good.
Percentage base.
The percentages are over the sum of the four groups, not over the total.
Frequently asked questions
The group number differs from the total of the filtered list. Why?
The report updates once a day. The list shows live data.
A student with a paid course shows as inactive.
That is right. Inactive means they have not signed in for more than 7 days. Their course access stays the same.
