# Ranking

> The account's points scoreboard: who scored the most in the period, participants, total and average, the product filter and how long points take to show.

The Ranking is the account scoreboard: the students with the most points in a period. It is the same ranking the student sees in their area, with filters for the administrator. Use it to see who stands out or to pick the winners of a challenge.

## How it works

A student earns points when they do something the account scores. For example: finishing a lesson, passing an exam, commenting. The ranking adds the period's points and orders the students. If two students tie, the alphabetical order of the name decides.

The report is in **Reports > Ranking**, in the **Engagement** group.

## What the screen shows

- **The period's numbers.** **Participants** (how many students scored), **Total points** and **Average per student**.
- **The podium.** The top three, with photo, name and points.
- **Other positions**, from fourth place on: **Position**, **Student** (name and email), **Points in period** and **Last access on**.

Click a row to open the student's profile (**View student**). This needs the permission to see students. Without it, the row does not open.

The ranking goes up to the 100th position. The list loads in blocks of 12 with **Load more results**.

If nobody scored in the chosen filter, the screen shows **Empty ranking**.

## The filters

- **Period**: **This month** (the default), **Last month**, **All time** or **Custom**. The **Period** chip opens **From** and **To** to pick a range. A month means the whole calendar month.
- **Product**: one or more products. With the chip, only points earned in those products count. Without the chip, it is the account's overall scoreboard.

A product's ranking is also inside the product. In **Content > Products**, open the product. In the header, the **Reports** group has the **Ranking** tab. It is this same screen, already filtered by the product.

## When points show

**Heads up: the ranking is not instant.**

- **In the dashboard report**, automatic points (lessons, exams, comments) arrive in about 15 minutes. Manual adjustments arrive right away.
- **In the student area**, the ranking updates once a day and shows the top 20. That is why "my points went up but my position did not change" on the same day is expected.

## Good to know

- **Manual adjustment without a product.** It counts in the overall scoreboard, but not in a product's ranking. To reward performance in a course, tie the adjustment to the course.
- **Student in the trash.** They leave the ranking. If restored, they come back with the same points.
- **Changing point values does not recalculate the past.** Whoever finished a lesson when it was worth 10 points keeps the 10.

## Frequently asked questions

**Can I see where a student's points came from?** Yes. Open their profile from the ranking. The scores tab lists every entry with its reason (see [Student profile](https://help.cademi.cloud/en/alunos/perfil-do-aluno.md)).

**The student shows in the account ranking but not in the product's. Why?** Their points came from another product or from a manual adjustment without a product. A product's ranking only adds what was earned in it.

**My points went up and my position did not change.** In the student area, the ranking updates once a day. The position changes the next day.
