# How content is organized

> Content levels in Cademí: showcase group, showcase, product, module, submodule and lesson. What each holds, where you create it and how access works.

The content in your account is organized in levels, one inside the other: group, showcase, product, module, submodule and lesson. For example: the course "Excel from Scratch" sits in the showcase "My courses" and has the module "Formulas". Access comes from the delivery: it can give a product, a whole showcase or a whole showcase group.

## The idea in one minute

Think of your account as a library.

- The **group** is a wing of the library. It holds bookshelves.
- The **showcase** is a bookshelf. It holds books.
- The **product** is a book.
- The **module** is a chapter of the book.
- The **submodule** is a part inside a chapter.
- The **lesson** is a page.

**The most important rule:** the student receives whole books. It can be one book, a whole shelf or a whole wing. Never just a chapter or a page.

    accDescr: A showcase group, which is optional, holds showcases. A showcase holds products. A product holds modules. A module holds lessons, or holds submodules, and the submodules hold the lessons. In a blog, the product holds lessons without modules. The student gets access to a product, a whole showcase or a whole group.

    sub -->|holds| aula
    produto -.->|in a blog, no modules| aula

The product is highlighted because it is the smallest part the student can receive.

## The levels, one by one

You create everything in **Content > Products**. Each new level starts as a draft, and you publish it when it is ready.

### Group

- **What it is:** a top-level showcase that holds other showcases. The screen calls it a **Showcase group**.
- **What it holds:** showcases, which the screen calls subshowcases. A group does not hold products directly.
- **Where you create it:** create an empty showcase. In the **...** menu, click **Edit**. Under **What do students find when opening this showcase?**, choose **Other showcases**.
- **Example:** the group "Marketing Track", with the showcases "Beginner" and "Advanced".

The group is optional. Most accounts use showcases on their own, without a group.

### Showcase

- **What it is:** a shelf in the student area.
- **What it holds:** products.
- **Where you create it:** click **New showcase**. Inside a group, click **New subshowcase**.
- **Example:** the showcase "My courses", with three courses.

See [Showcases and groups](https://help.cademi.cloud/en/conteudo/vitrines-e-grupos.md).

### Product

- **What it is:** what you sell and what the student accesses.
- **What it holds:** modules. In a blog, it holds lessons without modules.
- **Where you create it:** in the showcase, click **New product**.
- **Example:** the course "Excel from Scratch".

See [Products and formats](https://help.cademi.cloud/en/conteudo/produtos.md).

### Module

- **What it is:** a chapter of the product.
- **What it holds:** lessons, or submodules. Never both at the same time.
- **Where you create it:** open the product. On the **Lessons** tab, click **New module**.
- **Example:** the module "Formulas".

### Submodule

- **What it is:** a module inside another module.
- **What it holds:** lessons.
- **Where you create it:** in the module's **...** menu, click **Edit**. Under **Module content**, choose **Submodules** and save. Then click **Add submodule**.
- **Example:** inside the module "Formulas", the submodules "Text formulas" and "Date formulas".

The submodule is optional. Use it only when a module gets too big.

### Lesson

- **What it is:** the unit of content that the student watches or reads.
- **What it holds:** the video, the text and the files.
- **Where you create it:** in the module or the submodule, click **Add lesson**.
- **Example:** the lesson "How to use VLOOKUP".

See [Modules and lessons](https://help.cademi.cloud/en/conteudo/modulos-e-aulas.md).

## How many levels fit

- **Showcases:** two levels at most. A group holds showcases, and a showcase does not hold another showcase.
- **Modules:** two levels at most. A module holds submodules, and a submodule does not hold another submodule.
- **The longest path:** group, showcase, product, module, submodule and lesson.

**Heads up: this is where most mistakes happen.** Bruno creates a module with submodules and tries to put a lesson directly in it. The screen refuses: a module with submodules does not take lessons. Put the lesson in a submodule. In the same way, only a module without lessons can start to hold submodules.

## Products without modules

Not every product holds modules. The product's format decides:

- **Courses** and **Series:** hold modules, and the modules hold lessons.
- **Blog:** holds lessons directly, in one list, without modules.
- **Shortcut:** holds nothing. It opens another product.
- **Embedded page:** holds nothing. It shows a page from another site.

## How access works

The student gets access through a delivery. The delivery can give:

- **one product**;
- **a whole showcase**: every product in the showcase is included, with the access time the delivery sets;
- **a whole showcase group**: every product in every showcase of the group is included, with the same access time.

In a showcase or a group, the product list applies right away. A product you add to the showcase later joins the access of whoever already has the showcase. A product you take out leaves it. See [Deliveries](https://help.cademi.cloud/en/vendas/entregas.md).

The student never receives just a module or just a lesson. To open lessons over time, use [Drip content](https://help.cademi.cloud/en/conteudo/conteudo-programado.md).

## Three examples

The three examples use the same account, with language and cooking courses. In each one, the delivery gives a different part of the account. The highlight shows what the delivery gives. Next to each product, you see whether it is part of the student's access.

### Example 1: the delivery gives one product

The delivery gives the product "English from Zero", with an **Access Time** of 1 year.

```mermaid
treeView-beta
accTitle: Delivery of one product
accDescr: The delivery gives only the product English from Zero, for 1 year. The student receives this product with all its modules, submodules and lessons. English for Travel, Basic Spanish and the Cooking products stay out.
"Showcase group: Languages/"
    "Showcase: English/"
        "Product: English from Zero/" :::highlight ## included, for 1 year
            "Module: First steps/"
                "Lesson: Greetings"
                "Lesson: Numbers"
            "Module: Conversation/"
                "Submodule: At the restaurant/"
                    "Lesson: Ordering food"
                "Submodule: On the trip/"
                    "Lesson: At the airport"
        "Product: English for Travel" ## stays out
    "Showcase: Spanish/"
        "Product: Basic Spanish" ## stays out
"Showcase: Cooking/"
    "Product: Homemade Bread" ## stays out
    "Product: Party Sweets" ## stays out
```

The student receives all of "English from Zero": both modules, both submodules and every lesson, for 1 year. The rest of the account stays out. To open lessons over time, the delivery can use a schedule from [Drip content](https://help.cademi.cloud/en/conteudo/conteudo-programado.md).

### Example 2: the delivery gives a showcase

The delivery gives the showcase "Cooking", with lifetime access.

```mermaid
treeView-beta
accTitle: Delivery of a showcase
accDescr: The delivery gives the Cooking showcase, with lifetime access. Homemade Bread and Party Sweets are included, and so is Jar Cakes, a product added to the showcase later. The Languages products stay out.
"Showcase group: Languages/"
    "Showcase: English/"
        "Product: English from Zero" ## stays out
        "Product: English for Travel" ## stays out
    "Showcase: Spanish/"
        "Product: Basic Spanish" ## stays out
"Showcase: Cooking/" :::highlight ## the delivery gives this showcase
    "Product: Homemade Bread" ## included, lifetime
    "Product: Party Sweets" ## included, lifetime
    "Product: Jar Cakes (new)" ## included once you add it here
```

The student receives every product in the "Cooking" showcase, forever. Months later, you create "Jar Cakes" and add it to the showcase. It joins this student's access right away, without any change to the delivery. If you take a product out of the showcase, it leaves.

### Example 3: the delivery gives a showcase group

The delivery gives the group "Languages", with an **Access Time** of 6 months.

```mermaid
treeView-beta
accTitle: Delivery of a showcase group
accDescr: The delivery gives the Languages group, for 6 months. Every product in the English and Spanish showcases is included. The Cooking showcase stays out.
"Showcase group: Languages/" :::highlight ## the delivery gives this group
    "Showcase: English/"
        "Product: English from Zero" ## included, for 6 months
        "Product: English for Travel" ## included, for 6 months
    "Showcase: Spanish/"
        "Product: Basic Spanish" ## included, for 6 months
"Showcase: Cooking/"
    "Product: Homemade Bread" ## stays out
    "Product: Party Sweets" ## stays out
```

The student receives every product in every showcase of the group, for 6 months. A new showcase or product inside the group is included too. The "Cooking" showcase is outside the group and stays out of the access.

### The three examples side by side

| The delivery gives | The student receives | Does a new product join on its own? |
|---|---|---|
| One product | Only that product, in full | No. A new product needs another delivery, or to be added to this one |
| A showcase | Every product in the showcase | Yes, if you add it to that showcase |
| A showcase group | Every product in every showcase of the group | Yes, if you add it to a showcase of the group |

In all three cases, the access time is the one the delivery sets, and it applies to every product the delivery gives.

## Good to know

- **One product, one showcase.** Each product sits in one showcase only. To show the same product in another showcase, create a product in the **Shortcut** format. See [Connected lessons, copies and shortcuts](https://help.cademi.cloud/en/conteudo/aulas-conectadas-e-copias.md).
- **Publish each level.** Publishing a showcase does not publish its products. Publishing a product does not publish its lessons. On the product, **Publish All** publishes the product, its modules and its lessons at once.
- **A level in draft hides what is inside.** A showcase in draft hides its products. A module in draft hides its lessons.
- **A lesson outside a module.** In a course or a series, a lesson outside a module is not shown to the student.

## Frequently asked questions

**Can I sell just one module?** No. The student always gets the whole product. To open modules over time, use drip content.

**Can I put the same course in two showcases?** Yes, with a shortcut. The course sits in one showcase, and the shortcut appears in the other. Both open the same course, with the same progress.

**I cannot add a lesson to a module.** That module holds submodules. Open one of its submodules and add the lesson there.

**I cannot put a product in a group.** A group holds showcases, not products. Create a subshowcase inside the group and put the product in it.
