# Zoom

> Zoom meetings inside the lesson, without leaving the platform: the app in your Zoom account, the Client ID, the Client Secret and what Zoom receives.

The Zoom integration opens your Zoom meeting inside the lesson. The student clicks **Join the room** and takes part through the browser. They don't need a Zoom account. In **Settings > Zoom** you connect your Zoom account and choose what Cademí tells Zoom about whoever joins.

**Attention:** this integration only exists in accounts where Cademí has enabled it. If **Zoom** does not appear in the **Integrations** group of **Settings**, contact Cademí support.

## How it works

The meeting is still yours. You create and start the meeting in your Zoom account, as usual. The integration lets the student join it from inside a lesson in the **Live - Zoom** format. The student joins with the name in their record.

For that, Cademí needs an app created in your Zoom account. You copy two codes from that app, the **Client ID** and the **Client Secret**, and paste them into Cademí.

**The most important rule:** the meeting must belong to the same Zoom account where you created the app. A meeting from another account does not open through the lesson.

## The screen

At the top, the **Create the app in your Zoom account** strip has the **Open Zoom Marketplace** button. Below, there are two panels.

**Integration**:

- The **Enable Zoom integration** switch.
- With it on, the **Client ID** and **Client Secret** fields.
- With the integration off, a lesson in the Zoom format shows the room as unavailable.

**Student identification**:

- In **Data sent to Zoom**, choose **Name only** (the default) or **Name and email**.
- The name always goes, and the student cannot change the name.
- For a webinar, Zoom requires the email. So the email goes even with **Name only**.

The **Client Secret** is stored encrypted and does not appear again. When you edit the screen later, the field shows **Saved. Type to replace it**. Leave the field blank to keep what is already saved. Type only to change it.

## Step by step

### In your Zoom account

1. Click **Open Zoom Marketplace**.
2. Sign in with the Zoom account where you create meetings.
3. Create an app of the **General App** type.
4. Under **Features > Embed**, turn on the **Meeting SDK**.
5. Under **Basic Information**, copy the **Client ID** and the **Client Secret**.

### In Cademí

1. Open **Settings > Zoom**.
2. Turn on **Enable Zoom integration**.
3. Paste the **Client ID**.
4. Paste the **Client Secret**. Both are required to enable it.
5. In **Data sent to Zoom**, choose **Name only** or **Name and email**.
6. Click **Save now**.

### In the lesson

1. In the lesson, choose the **Live - Zoom** format ([Modules and lessons](https://help.cademi.cloud/en/conteudo/modulos-e-aulas.md)).
2. Paste the meeting invitation link: the link Zoom generates with the meeting number and the passcode.
3. At the scheduled time, start the meeting in your Zoom account.

The student joins through the lesson. Your personal room link (the one ending in /my/your-name) does not work.

## What the student sees

In the lesson, the student sees a card with the **Join the room** button. The card warns that the browser will ask for microphone and camera access.

- On a computer, the meeting opens inside the lesson.
- On a phone, the meeting opens full screen. On leaving, the student goes back to the lesson (**Back to the lesson**).
- Whoever leaves can use **Join again** while the meeting is running.

The student joins as a participant, with the name in their record. The screen warns when they cannot join:

- If the meeting hasn't started yet, the notice asks them to try again in a few minutes.
- If the meeting is full, has ended or requires registration, the notice says so.

## Good to know

- **The meeting must belong to the same Zoom account where the app was created.** A meeting created in another account does not open through the lesson. The student sees a notice that it was created in another Zoom account.
- **Meetings with required registration don't open through the lesson.** Turn off registration on the meeting, or use another meeting.
- **Webinars send the email.** It is a Zoom requirement. If you don't want to send students' emails, use meetings, not webinars.
- **Turning off the integration doesn't delete lessons.** Lessons in the Zoom format remain. The room shows as unavailable until you turn the integration back on.
- **Browser.** The room works in current versions of Chrome, Edge and Safari. In other browsers, the student sees a notice to switch.

## Frequently asked questions

**Does the student need a Zoom account?** No. They join through the lesson, in the browser, with the name in their record.

**Can I use my personal room link?** No. The link must have the meeting number, and the personal link doesn't. Schedule the meeting and paste the invitation link.

**I changed the Client Secret in Zoom. What do I do here?** Open **Settings > Zoom**, type the new **Client Secret** and save. Until you save, students cannot join the rooms.

**The student sees that the meeting was created in another Zoom account.** The meeting must belong to the Zoom account where you created the app. Create the meeting in that account and paste the new link into the lesson.
