# Sharing

> The title, description and image that appear when someone shares your platform's link on WhatsApp or social media, and how to change them.

When someone pastes your platform's address on WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook, the network builds a link preview. The preview has a title, a description and an image. In **Settings > Sharing** you set what appears in it.

## What you fill in

The **Link information** panel has three fields:

| **Title** | The main text of the preview. Recommended: up to 60 characters. Left blank, the default title appears: "Members Area" followed by the student area's **Page title** |
| **Description** | The text below the title. Recommended: up to 160 characters |
| **Image** | The image next to the title and description. JPG or PNG, 1200 × 630 px, up to 600 KB |

The fields show a character count. The limit is only a recommendation. The platform does not cut the text, but the networks cut whatever goes past their space.

The **Preview**, on the right, shows about how your information may appear on social media. It changes as you type. Without an image, it shows **Add an image to see it here.**

## Step by step

1. In the dashboard, open **Settings > Sharing**.
2. In **Title**, type the name you want to see in the preview. To use the default, leave it blank.
3. In **Description**, write a short sentence about the platform.
4. In **Image**, upload the image.
5. Click **Save now** in the footer bar.

**Heads up: the new preview takes a while to show on the networks.** Each network keeps a copy of the preview and only refreshes it at its own pace. So right after you save, WhatsApp may keep showing the old image.

## Good to know

- **The update takes a while.** After you save, the new preview may take some time to appear on social media. Some networks have a link debugging tool that forces the refresh.
- **It applies to the platform address.** The preview is the one of the access screens (login, sign-up and password recovery). Every platform link takes someone who has not logged in to those screens. So the preview is always this one, for the home page, a product or a lesson.
- **One sharing setup per account.** The information applies to the whole platform address. There is no per-product or per-showcase preview here.
- **Page title and sharing title are different fields.** The browser-tab one is in [Student area](https://help.cademi.cloud/en/configuracoes/area-do-aluno.md). The link-preview one is here. Without a title here, the one from there goes into the default.

## Frequently asked questions

**I changed the image and WhatsApp keeps showing the old one.** That is the copy kept by the network. Wait, or use the network's link debugging tool to request a refresh.

**Which image size should I use?** 1200 × 630 px, JPG or PNG, up to 600 KB. The networks show this proportion in full, without cropping.
