# How Cademí works

> The path from content to the student: the content, the sale on the gateway, the delivery, the enrollment, access, release rules and progress.

Cademí is the members area for your courses. It decides **who can open what, and when**. It does not charge the student: the payment gateway does.

In the student area, each buyer watches lessons and takes exams. They also request certificates, earn points and talk to your support team.

## The idea in one minute

You sell the course on a gateway, such as Hotmart. The sale reaches Cademí, and three pieces decide what the buyer gets:

- The **delivery** says what the sale is worth: which products, for how long and with which schedule.
- The **enrollment** links the buyer to a delivery. Each sale creates an enrollment.
- The **schedule** says when each module and each lesson opens.

**The most important rule:** publishing a course gives access to no one. The delivery gives access. Without a delivery holding the code of the product sold, the sale is stored and releases nothing.

## The path from content to student

1. **You organize the content** into showcases, products, modules and lessons. Publishing makes content visible. Publishing gives access to no one.
2. **The sale happens on the gateway** (Hotmart, Eduzz, Kiwify, Stripe and others). The gateway tells Cademí about each event: approved purchase, refund, cancellation, renewal.
3. **The delivery says what the sale is worth.** It sets which products the buyer gets, for how long, with which release schedule and which tags. The products can be chosen products, a whole showcase or group, or every product in the account. A delivery is a one-time sale or a subscription. Without a delivery holding the code of the product sold, the sale is stored but releases nothing.
4. **The buyer receives an enrollment** in that delivery. If they have no account, Cademí creates one and sends the access email. Each sale creates its own enrollment. That is how renewals add up.
5. **Cademí works out access to the product.** It combines all the student's enrollments, free products and the adjustments made just for them. The result is one verdict per product.
6. **Release rules say what is open right now** inside the product. For example: everything at once, one module a week, on a date, after an exam. The rules live in a release schedule. The delivery chooses which schedule the buyer follows.
7. **The student signs in.** First, they accept the platform or product terms, if you set them.
8. **Progress grows** with each completed lesson. Progress can open more content, award points and make the certificate available to request.

The same path, from published content to progress:

Publishing gives no access: what turns a sale into access is the delivery.

**Heads up: this is where most mistakes happen.** Steps 3 to 6 are live. The enrollment points to the delivery and keeps no copy of it. Bia opened the March cohort with a delivery. In April, she edited that delivery for the new cohort. Result: the March cohort changed too. For a new cohort with new conditions, create a new delivery. If the dates are different, also create a new schedule.

## What Cademí decides and what stays outside

| Cademí handles | Outside Cademí |
| --- | --- |
| Who can open each product, module and lesson, and when | Billing: the gateway charges, splits, refunds and renews |
| The student's account and login, the access email | Video: it lives in the player you embed (YouTube, Vimeo, Panda and others) |
| Progress, exams, certificates, points and ranking | Funnel emails and WhatsApp messages: they live in your automation tool |
| Comments, questions, tickets and FAQ | The sales page and the checkout: Cademí only receives the sale notification |

A payment, video or marketing message problem usually has its fix outside Cademí.

## Other ways in

| Path | What gives access |
| --- | --- |
| Free registration (on the login page or through an external form) | The account's free delivery, if there is one |
| Google sign-in | The same as free registration. It creates the student only if free registration is on |
| Free product | Every registered student has it, with no enrollment |
| Import or manual enrollment | The deliveries an administrator grants |
| Diamond Funnel | The funnel's free lessons, never the paid product |

All of these paths stop when the account reaches the plan's student limit. The limit counts every student outside the trash, active or not.

## They can see it, but can they open it?

Seeing and opening are different things. A published product can be locked for a student. And an enrollment never reveals draft content.

When a student cannot open something, check the layers in this order. Stop at the first one that fails.

| Layer | Blocks when |
| --- | --- |
| Showcase status | The showcase is a draft: the shelf disappears, but a product's direct address still opens |
| Product status | Draft; or hidden or unlisted, and the student does not have the product |
| Enrollment | None covers the product, or it is suspended, revoked or expired |
| Access time | The period ended, or the end date scheduled for the student has passed |
| Release rule | The module or lesson has not opened for this student yet |
| Lessons in order | The account requires lessons in sequence and an earlier one is not completed |
| Terms | The student has not accepted them yet |

## Good to know

- **The gateway controls sale enrollments.** Refunds, cancellations and renewals come from the gateway. They change access on their own. You handle manual enrollments and per-student adjustments.
- **The most generous rule wins.** Sometimes several enrollments cover the same product. Then lifetime access beats any term, and the most open release rule applies. A delivery with no schedule opens everything.
- **Buying again never closes content.** "Days after purchase" counts from the student's first purchase that is still valid. Access time, on the other hand, adds up: renewing before it expires adds the new period to what is left.
- **Time acts on its own.** Cademí calculates expiration from the dates. An enrollment can show as active and already be expired. Drip content opens and closes at the exact time.
- **A student is identified by email.** If a buyer uses another email at checkout, they become a second student. Cademí never merges two accounts on its own.
- **History is kept.** Deleting a student or a product moves it to the trash. A delivery is archived, not deleted. Enrollments, progress and reports stay and come back on restore.
- **The student requests the certificate.** Cademí never issues a certificate on its own. The certificate criterion decides when the student can request one.
- **Accounts never mix.** A clone shares content with its source account. It never shares students, sales or reports.
